PENGETAHUAN KANKER CERVIKS DAN PRILAKU MELAKUKAN IMUNISASI HPV PADA ANAK REMAJA WANITA

ABSTRACT

 Background: Cervical cancer is a type of cancer which 99.7% are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) oncogenic, which attacks the cervix. In Indonesia only 5 percent who do Cervical Cancer Screening, so that 76.6 percent of patients when detected has entered the Advanced Stage (IIIB upwards). Prevention of cervical cancer can be done with the screening program and vaccination. In developed countries, cases of this type of cancer has begun to decrease because there’s the program of early detection through pap smears and immunizations. Immunization or vaccination is proof to reduce the risk of cervical cancer because vaccination has the potential to reduce mortality from cervical cancer by as much as 2-3 women.

Objective: To determine the relationship of mothers’ knowledge about cervical cancer with HPV immunization with mothers’ behaviour in doing immunization to female adolescents, identify the mothers’ level of knowledge about cervical cancer and identify mothers’ behaviour in doing HPV immunization to female adolescents.

Methods: The study was observational analytic with the implementation of survey forms. The design of the research was using a cross sectional approach. The location of the research is in Badran village, city of Yogyakarta. Sampling was done in Cluster Random Sampling Sample.

Results: The level of education of 50 respondents, the most was high school education as many as 28 (60%) and the least was an elementary education that is 5 people (10%). Occupation of most respondents are as housewife 30 people (60%), level of knowledge about cervical cancer that the highest one numbered 31 people (62%), behavioural mothers’ who did HPV immunization in female adolescents are not done as many as 44 people (88%). Statistical test that was used is the product moment correlation to analyze all the variables under study and determine whether there is a significant relationship to the level of confidence (P> 00.5) where the results showed that the p value of p > 0.902, which means there’s no significant association between mothers’ knowledge about cervical cancer with the behaviour of mothers to immunize female adolescents.

Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the level of mother's knowledge about cervical cancer with HPV immunization behaviors in female adolescents in the Badran village. The level of knowledge does not always correlate with the actions or behaviour. People who have a true perception is not necessarily going to implement their knowledge properly anyway.
